Overview

An experienced Senior Property Accountant is needed to take full accounting responsibility for a complex commercial office property. This role manages all accounting functions end-to-end ("soup to nuts"), including general ledger oversight, financial reporting, and property-level operational accounting. The position is onsite and offers strong long-term growth potential into an Accounting Manager role within a small, collaborative department.

Key Responsibilities

Property Accounting & Financial Management

  • Manage full-cycle property accounting for a complex commercial property.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, reconciliation, and compliance.
  • Handle CAM reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, A/R and A/P.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare financial reporting packages for internal leadership.
  • Analyze variances, trends, and operating results to provide insight.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for assigned assets.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Maintain strong communication with affiliated teams supporting the property.
  • Coordinate with property management, leasing, and construction teams to ensure complete and accurate financial data.
  • Participate in process improvements and workflow enhancements within the accounting group.

Systems & Compliance

  • Utilize MRI for all property accounting functions.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Support annual audit activities.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of property accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and general ledger operations.
  • Proficiency with MRI (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work onsite and succeed in a small, hands-on department.
